Fort Zumwalt School District - 1 to 1 Student Device Program

Fort Zumwalt to provide a Chromebook for students in grades 6-12 for the 2019-2020 school year

The Fort Zumwalt School District is making plans to provide a Chromebook to all Middle School and High School students for the 2019-2020 school year. Chromebooks will be purchased for all incoming 6th and 9th grade students. Existing Chromebooks in classrooms and carts will be re-utilized for all other grade levels, providing every student a computer for classroom and home use.

JB Mette, Director of Technology Services, says the program started in 2018 for all Middle School students has been a great success: "By utilizing our existing inventory of equipment, and building a methodical approach to replacements each year, we can bring a Digital Learning Environment to our students in a short time frame. Our Middle School students have already made great strides in a Digital Learning environment, and we look forward to seeing what our High School students can accomplish as well."

Most Important Question: When Do I Get My Chromebook?

The Fort Zumwalt Technology Department will be working throughout the summer of 2019 to prepare all of the devices for student use in the fall. Based on the delivery timeline and the workload of our staff, our plan is to hand out Chromebooks to all Middle and High School students during the first 2 weeks of school in August, 2019.

Before classes start, we'll have a station setup during schedule pick-up/orientation to review insurance plan offerings and to demo the Chromebooks so students can check out what they'll be using. We're looking forward to another great year with more technology in the hands of our students!
